A Patent will protect an invention. In exchange for sharing your recipe you are given 20 years exclusivity to exploit your invention in the form of a patent registration. After the 20 years you no longer have exclusive rights to the invention.

Before sharing your invention with anyone you should file a patent application. A patent application is invalidated if your invention is not new as it has been shared with your marketplace or is not novel or unique. If you are speaking to anyone about your invention before filing a patent application you can ask them to sign a confidentiality agreement.

You can protect your patent in the UK, EU or worldwide through the PCT (Patent Cooperation Treaty).

We are more than happy to have a no obligation confidential conversation if you would like to explore how to patent your invention.
